This bibliographic research pretends to describe the theater workshop and identify its use within the educational field, as a teaching proposal that promotes and enhances the development and strengthening of oral expression in secondary school students. The concept of oral expression and its importance for the development of the human being in general are exposed, emphasizing the characteristics of the adolescent in a specific way. The communicative-linguistic competence that proposed in the National Curriculum, and that must be achieved by the students, requires the development of oral processes and the elements that conform oral expression. For this reason, it is important to consider the paralinguistic and extra linguistic aspects, for the elaboration and decoding of messages, with the objective that they learn to communicate clearly and coherently to achieve their personal goals and objectives. In addition, the theater workshop is presented as an alternative for the development of oral expression. These arguments are based on the playful structure of the theater workshop, made up of theatrical play and dramatic techniques, providing the student with tools that allow them to develop their own learning resources in terms of communication skills and abilities. Finally, the characteristics of the positive impact of the theater workshop on adolescents are presented in detail, analyzing how each aspect and element of oral expression significantly improves.
