Critical Thinking Appraisal (WGCTA).
The purpose of this research was to determine if there is a relationship between personality traits and critical thinking. The study focused on a sample of 139 executives of middle management and senior management from Colombia, Ecuador and Peru, who work in different sectors, such as banking, retail and private higher education. Data was collected using two globally recognized standardized tests: the Revised NEO Personality Inventory (NEO PI-R) standardized test and the Watson-Glaser Critical Thinking Appraisal (WGCTA). For data analysis, a structural equation model was used, supported on Smart-PLS v3.0 software. The results showed that there is a statistically significant, weak and inverse, relationship between personality traits and critical thinking. While reviewing each indicator, there was found that openness to experiences, as well as responsibility, has an inverse and weak relationship with inference, deduction and interpretation. Meanwhile, neuroticism and extraversion only have relationship with one critical thinking indicator, the interpretation, which is also wheak and negative. Finally, agreeableness is only statistically related to deduction.
