Abstract
This study seeks to inform and demonstrate the great importance of the practice of reading aloud by the family and how it generates a great impact on the lives of infants. Therefore, the general objective is to analyze the mediating role of families in the development of reading aloud in girls and boys of 4 years in a public educational institution in Lima; whose specific objectives are: (i) describe the benefits of reading aloud mediation assumed by families, (ii) identify the conversation practices that occur between the family and their daughters and sons during reading aloud, (iii) identify the interactions that occur between the family and their daughters and sons during reading aloud. This is a study with a qualitative approach at a descriptive level, which was carried out through a semi-structured interview with 7 families in the classroom and the audiovisual documentary analysis of the reading aloud videos presented by the families. According to the results, it is concluded that the families in this study assume a mediating role, since they practice reading aloud at home. In addition, the main motivations of families are that reading aloud favors learning, language, imagination and the affective bond with their children.
