Abstract
This research compares the perceived levels of quality by converting sector companies in Peru to 2014 that have a management system ISO 9001 and those which do not have one. In order to achieve it, it was considered the nine factors of total quality management (TQM) proposed model by Benzaquen (2013). The sample size was 87 companies, 47 of which are ISO 9001 certified. The study showed that there is a significant difference between the perceived level of quality between conversion sector companies with ISO 9001 and those without it. Companies with ISO 9001 have a higher level of quality perception concerning with each of the nine factors than those not certified. Therefore it is recommended that the sector companies that have not implemented the certification analyze the feasibility and convenience of doing so in order to achieve better levels of quality management. Likewise, it is recommended that sector companies invest in education and training of its employees on issues related to quality management.
