The aim of the present research was to explore the social representations of the marijuana consumption in college students of Metropolitan Lima, this through its three dimensions, information, attitudes and representational field. To do this, 16 students who used marijuana participated, ranging from 19 to 26 years old. A semi-structured interview was used. The results obtained indicate that the college students have inaccurate knowledge about the marijuana consumption. They obtained this through three sources of information, such as the social environment, virtual media and their own experience. They also reported knowing three forms of consumption, such as cigarettes, pipes and edibles mainly. Besides, they present a positive assessment about the marijuana consumption and this may be influenced by different elements such as accessibility, the economic factor and the social environment, which are aspects that facilitate or hinder consumption. In addition, they represent the consumption of marijuana as a physical place sharing with people and also attribute different meanings, such as a personal, social, recreational space and a way of relaxation. On the other hand, they pointed out that they consume it mainly because of the effects of marijuana, because they want to join a group and because they avoid reality. Finally, they noted more positive effects than harms.
