Development—defined as the expansion of both the capabilities acquired by people and the opportunities available to them—occurs in spaces which actually exist; these spaces can foster or delay development and, consequently, restrict liberties. This paper explores the role that the geographical-social space plays in the human development of the different regions of Peru. We find that indeed space matters for human development.en_US
