Los grabados de José Sabogal en libros y revistas: aportes al diseño gráfico peruano a inicios del siglo XX
(Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, 2022-12-14) Valenzuela Suárez, Claudia Catherine
Sabogal, along with other intellectuals, reflected on their concerns about the complementarity of the text with the image and the artifact that contained them. It was an incipient discipline, without a name. However, it was a cultural phenomenon that combined knowledge, aesthetics and literature, and transformed magazines and illustrated books into objects of symbolic and sociocultural value. These artefacts of the past are now invaluable and are considered pieces of historical value that allow us to build a genealogy of the design discipline prior to its institutionalization around 1960. The artistic and graphic context of the 1920s and 1930s was a laboratory for experimentation in graphic illustration and xylography, which consolidated the concept of the graphic image.

Moda, reificación y utopía: zapatillas de lujo y la estética worn out
(Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, 2023-02-17) Patiño Núñez, Alberto
This article analyses some examples of what is usually known as "designer" sneakers ins cribed in the so called worn out aesthetic trend. lt describes practices and discourses of the fashion industry, and the luxury and sumptuousness with which it is usually associa ted. lt identifies the cultural framework and the fashion market as references of identities and ideals of the present time. Based on the critical and cultural theory of authors such as Fredric Jameson and Slavoj ZiZek, it reviews some ideas centered on conceptions of the past, the construction of identity and the creation of social ties. From this perspective, it is questioned whether the meaning of the aesthetic is depoliticized or if it is rather what is called an ideological production.

Dibujando el rostro de Lima: el mapa de Perrottet y los imaginarios de modernidad del siglo XX
(Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, 2022-12-14) Vásquez Larraín, Erika Lucía
This article is part of the research framework of my master's thesis entitled Los mapas de Lima: construcción de representaciones de la ciudad a través de sus planos (1977-2021), which reflects on the construction of representations of Lima through its maps, around the idea of "modernity" and was a reference for the urban changes that occurred throughout the twentieth century. These changes derived from historical processes, such as the rural migrations of the seventies and eighties, fragmented the physical and social organization of the city and placed some in privileged positions and others in marginal positions. lt that context, the first street guide of Lima for commercial use was created by the Swiss Oliver Perrottet in 1977 as a contribution to the process of "modernization" of the city, which was conveniently used by the State and Lima's elite to reproduce an ideological discourse around their ideals of "modernity. By means of this emblematic map of Lima, it will be revealed that although maps are seen as objective tools of cartography, they also act as devices of power and construct representations of the city that contribute to the formation of urban imaginaries that normalize marginalization, injustice, relationships of inequality and a sense of not belonging to one's own city.
