Abstract
The present document is a state of the art on the modeling of reading aloud by the teacher in the process of training competent readers. Thus, it gathers the main contributions of the latest research carried out in the last 20 years. The main objective of this paper is to analyze the relevance of teacher modeling, through reading aloud, in the formation of readers in the first years of regular elementary education, based on a literature review. For this purpose, different databases in English and Spanish were considered, as well as repositories of several universities, mainly in Latin America. The research is of a documentary type and has a bibliographic design that has consolidated the processes of collection, organization and analysis of the information. Thus, the research consists of three sections that show how, through reading aloud, the teacher becomes a reference in both the acquisition and development of reading competence. Finally, from the study conducted, it is evident that the acquisition and development of reading strategies, skills and habits fall mainly on the work of teachers, since they act as competent reading models.
