Abstract
This research provides information on written production, specifically narrative and expository texts, to know the performance of children in front of the writing. The objective is to determine the differences of narrative and expository written production among children of 6th grade of primary school, of two private educational institutions of San Juan de Lurigancho district. The non-experimental, cross-sectional comparative design was used. The sample was constituted by 124 students who attend the 6th grade of primary school, of which 53 are male and 71 are female. Two sub-tests of the Battery of Evaluation of the Processes of Writing (PROESC) from Cuetos, Ramos and Ruano (2004) were used: writing of a story (narrative text) and writing of an essay (expository text). The results indicate that there is a certain homogeneity in relation to the expository texts, although this result is not optimal. At the end this research concluded that in relation to the expository text there are no significant differences while in relation of the narrative text there are significant differences in favor of the girls
