This research aimed to characterize the digital ecosystem and the sustainability of digital native media from Huancayo. To do this, a study of qualitative approach, descriptive level and phenomenological design was carried out on the cases of three digital native media from that city: Huanca York Times, Infoandes and Junín en Línea. The information was collected through in-depth interviews, for which a structured interview guide was designed and validated, and later applied to members of each medium. The data obtained were analyzed through a triangulation, which allowed identifying the most relevant aspects of each case, comparing them and establishing a general perspective for the understanding of the subject matter. The study concluded that the dynamism of the digital ecosystem of Huancayo favors the development of digital native journalistic projects such as those observed here, which have the acceptance of the public because of their proposals of independent and quality journalism, in a context characterized by unprofessional exercise of local traditional media. For the studied media, Facebook is its main platform for content distribution, as well as the channel most used to interact with its audiences; although they are also present in other social networks such as YouTube, Twitter, Instagram and TikTok. The business and financing models of these media are based almost exclusively on advertising, which until now has been insufficient to generate adequate profit margins, so their future sustainability is uncertain.
