Abstract
The study aims to establish the differences in the level of knowledge about dyslexia in elementary school teachers handling 3rd and 4th grade in public and private schools in Lima in regards to their training center, academic level and sex. The investigation is justified because the theoretical heritage on the subject will start in the country. The process sampling was kind of intentional and nonprobabilistic, evaluating 100 teachers from institutions of regular basic education from public and private schools located in the districts of Ate, Santa Anita, Chorrillos, Los Olivos, San Juan de Miraflores and San Luis. The tool used was in the form of survey questionnaire. To develop it, we considered some dimensions as a criterion of construction that is part of the concept dyslexia, such as: definition, classification, symptoms and causes. The “Survey of knowledge of teachers on dyslexia” has a degree of reliability and validity, appropriate to fulfill the purpose for which it was built. The results referred to the survey is that teachers have an average knowledge based on dyslexia, as well as the non-confirmation of the general hypothesis which states that there are significant differences in the level of knowledge in dyslexia on teachers of 3rd and 4th grade in public and private primary schools in Lima based upon gender, academic and training institution and degree.
