enfoque interdisciplinario, involucrando a entidades gubernamentales,
comunidades locales, ONGs y el sector privado.
The Piuray micro-watershed, situated in Cusco, is essential for water supply and supports economic activities in the region. Despite its crucial role, it faces governance and water management challenges, ranging from overexploitation to conflicts over water access. This research focuses on evaluating the effectiveness and participation in its management. To achieve this, the legal and institutional frameworks governing water management in Piuray will be analyzed, providing an understanding of the decision-making context. Key actors and their roles in decision-making will be identified, assessing how they have adapted over time. Furthermore, strategies implemented for water sustainability in the microwatershed will be analyzed. It is argued that the current management is ineffective and lacks participation due to the absence of preventive measures, limited involvement of key actors, and conflicts over water access. The research aims to address these shortcomings through an interdisciplinary approach.
