The objective of this research is to know the level of development achieved in the predictors of reading in first and second grade primary school students from public and private educational institutions, in a post-pandemic context. It is an ex post facto criterion group design. The sample being 120 first and second grade students, who were evaluated with the tests: THP and LEE respectively. It is worth mentioning that first grade students performed the rhyming, syllabic awareness, phonemic awareness, name and letter sound tasks; and in second grade, complementary tests: phonemic segmentation and letter reading; corresponding to the predictors of phonological and alphabetic knowledge respectively. Regarding the results, these were: in the predictor of phonological knowledge, in first grade, it is observed that children are located at the upper average level with 36.7%. Regarding the predictor of alphabetic knowledge; The students are located in the upper average level with 66.7%. On the other hand, in phonological awareness in second grade, students are in a medium category with 63.3%. Finally, in alphabetical knowledge it is observed that second grade students are located at a medium level with 56.7%. Thus, we conclude that the students managed to reach the average/medium level in the predictors of phonological and alphabetic knowledge, both being important for the teaching-learning process of literacy.
