Resumen
Este trabajo pretende ofrecer una revisión al estado actual del uso de las redes
sociales en el contexto educativo. La finalidad de esta investigación es analizar los
documentos existentes sobre el tema en cuanto al trabajo pedagógico que se ha ido
desarrollando al implementar las redes sociales en los diversos niveles de la
educación básica. Este estado del arte utiliza estudios realizados en países de
Iberoamérica durante la última década. Asimismo, considera trabajos de
investigación en idioma inglés que se adhieren al área geográfica propuesta. Las
fuentes revisadas varían entre artículos académicos, tesis de licenciatura y tesis de
magíster. Un tercio de estos estudios informan sobre investigaciones
experimentales, las cuales se basan en implementar el uso de redes sociales a un
grupo específico de estudiantes para realizar comparaciones con el grupo control y
comprobar su eficacia. Otras de las fuentes trabajan particularmente con un solo
grupo de la población total. Con la información recabada, el artículo se dividió en
dos apartados. El primero discute las diversas concepciones teóricas del tema
desde la perspectiva de los autores y el segundo se focaliza en analizar los
aprendizajes y competencias generados a través de las redes sociales. Las
reflexiones finales aluden a una conceptualización clara de redes sociales en
educación, a la diversidad de usos de estas redes en las aulas escolares, a las
conductas éticas que implican su uso, y a las tendencias pedagógicas y en la
postura de los investigadores que fueron identificadas.
This work aims to offer a review of the current state of the use of social networks in the educational context. The purpose of this research is to analyze the existing documents on the subject in terms of the pedagogical work that has been developed when implementing social networks at the various levels of basic education. This state of the art uses studies carried out in Latin American countries and Spain during the last decade. It also considers research papers in the English language that adhere to the proposed geographic area. The sources reviewed vary between academic articles, bachelor's thesis, and master's thesis. A third of these studies report on experimental research, which is based on implementing the use of social networks to a specific group of students to make comparisons with the control group and check its effectiveness. Other sources work specifically with a single group of the total population. With the information collected, the article was divided into two sections. The first one discusses the various theoretical conceptions of the subject from the authors' perspective and the second one focuses on analyzing the learning and skills generated through social networks. The final reflections allude to a clear conceptualization of social networks in education, the diversity of uses of these networks in school classrooms, the ethical behaviors that their use implies, and the trends based on the pedagogical aspect and the position of the researchers that were identified.
