This State of the Art presents a critical analysis around a variety of information sources about emotional education in primary school, which is a continuous educational process that seeks an integral development. The purpose is to know the contributions of emotional education in elementary school children. Therefore, a documentary study is carried out using matrices in which a total of thirty four sources are analyzed. Among them, twenty four journal articles were collected from Redalyc, EBSCO, Researchgate, Scielo, JSTOR; two book chapters, from two libraries; an e- book, from the Ingebook platform; four reports from international institutions; and three websites of international institutions. The structure of this work presents three sections: development of emotional and social competences, influence of emotional competencies in learning and good academic performance and emotional education as a health promoter. The final reflection of this State of the Art is that emotional education, through the development of emotional competencies of emotional regulation, personal autonomy and life and well-being skills, as well as the competence areas of self-awareness, social awareness and relationship skills positively influence in social, emotional, academic and health aspects, which is why it is considered important for the integral development. Moreover, these competencies are interrelated so that the individual generates positive affections that help them to face adverse and / or difficult situations throughout life.
