Resumen
El presente estudio tiene como objetivo general describir y comparar los estilos de liderazgo en dirigentes estudiantiles de las cinco comunidades universitarias LGBT de Lima Metropolitana. Para ello, se diseñó una guía de entrevista semiestructurada basada en la versión corta del Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ -5X) desarrollada por Bass y Avolio (1994) donde se contrasta el auto reporte del líder y la percepción de miembros de la comunidad sobre el liderazgo. Los resultados demuestran que existe consistencia en ambas percepciones de liderazgo; además se encuentra que tres comunidades presentan un estilo de liderazgo de tipo transformacional mientras que dos comunidades presentan un estilo de liderazgo de tipo evitativo. Asimismo, se encuentran diferencias en el grado de participación y organización de las comunidades. Se identifican cuatro ejes de análisis para caracterizar el liderazgo de estas comunidades: (i) liderazgo aceptado, (ii) agencia, (iii) relaciones sociales y (iv) apoyo de la institución. A partir de esta propuesta se sugieren nuevos modelos de liderazgo que se ajustan mejor a la realidad de las comunidades universitarias LGBT, entre los que se proponen enfoques de liderazgo participativos.
The present study aims to describe and compare the leadership styles applied in student leader of five colleges LGBT in Lima. In order to accomplish this objective, questions for a semi-estructured interview where made based on the Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire Short Form (MLQ -5X) developed by Bass and Avolio (1994) where the authors contrast the self-reporting leader and member perception´s about the community. Findings revealed that there´s consistency in both perceptions of leadership, furthermore they revealed that three communities applied a transformational leadership style; on the other hand, two communities applied avoidant leadership style. In addition, there are differences in the level of participation and community organization. Regarding this point, the implementation of five axes to qualify each community is proposed: (i) accepted leadership, (ii) agency, (iii) social relations, (iv) support of the institution and, (v) representation Since this proposal is finally suggests the development of new leadership models that fit the actuality of LGBT university communities, including participative leadership approaches which are proposed.
