“Nadie te enseña a cuidar”: percepciones sobre el cuidado infantil de los operadores de servicios

Abstract

Recibir un cuidado adecuado ha demostrado ser uno de los componentes necesarios para un adecuado desarrollo infantil temprano (OMS y UNICEF, 2018). En ese marco, se vienen diseñando y ejecutando intervenciones que apuntan a fortalecer a todo el Sistema de cuidado, compuesto por distintos actores además de las familias. Uno de los actores principales que compone este sistema, aunque poco estudiados, son los operadores que trabajan de una manera más directa con las familias. En este contexto, esta investigación pretende responder a la pregunta ¿Cuáles son las percepciones sobre el sistema de cuidado infantil que tienen los operadores de servicios relacionados al cuidado infantil que incluyen a familias de entidades públicas y privadas? El propósito principal fue analizar las percepciones de operadoras de servicios, un grupo compuesto por operadoras de un PRONOEI, y el otro por operadoras de una ONG. El enfoque es cualitativo, de nivel descriptivo y tipo fenomenológico. Se entrevistó a las operadoras para recoger sus percepciones. Los resultados evidencian algunos dilemas que las cuidadoras tiene con respecto a su rol, como el nivel de cercanía que deben tener con las familias. Además, se encuentran diferencias entre las percepciones de los roles que madres y padres desempeñan en el cuidado, evidenciando algunos estereotipos de género. Este estudio muestra la complejidad que implican las percepciones de las operadoras y cómo esto, por medio de dinámicas de relación y poder que se establecen con las familias, podría llegar a impactar la efectividad de las intervenciones en beneficio del cuidado y el desarrollo infantil.

Receiving a nurturing care has proven to be one of the main components for an adequate early childhood development (OMS y UNICEF, 2018). In this framework, multiple interventions are being design and executed to strengthen the entire care system, made up of different actors in addition to families. One of the main actors that make up this system, although little studied, are the operators that work more directly with families. In this context, this research aims to answer the question: What are the perceptions of the child care system that service operators, from public and private entities, related to child care that includes families have? The main purpose was to analyze the perceptions of the service operators, one group made up of operators from a PRONOEI, and the other by operators from an NGO. The approach is qualitative, descriptive level and phenomenological type. The operators were interviewed to collect their perceptions. The results show some dilemmas that caregivers have regarding their role, such as the level of closeness they should have with families. In addition, there are differences between the perceptions of the roles that mothers and fathers play in care, evidencing some gender stereotypes. This study shows the complexity involved in the perceptions of the operators and how this, through the dynamics and power relationships that they established with the families, could impact the effectiveness of interventions for the benefit of child care and development.
