Abstract
El ser humano se enfrenta cada vez a mayores retos geotécnicos para construir estructuras, ya que las zonas geológica y geotécnicamente favorables son cada vez más escasas. Una de las técnicas más antiguas y que siguen siendo utilizadas para el mejoramiento del terreno es el uso de la precarga. El objetivo de la precarga en suelos blandos saturados es reducir el asentamiento cuando se lleva a cabo la construcción real en el sitio. Este objetivo se logra acelerando el proceso de consolidación de estos suelos, ejerciendo presiones e implementando medios para el drenaje de agua. En esta investigación se busca comparar los distintos tipos de precarga que son ejecutados en proyectos de ingeniería, los cuales son el sistema de precarga con material de relleno y con vacío. Este último tiene dos tipos: precarga con vacío con membrana hermética y precarga con vacío de dren a dren. Se recopila información de cada uno de estos sistemas, tanto en sus características propias y como su aplicación en distintas obras de ingeniería. Al finalizar, se presentan tablas comparativas de cada método, donde se detallan ventajas, aplicabilidad, desventajas y limitaciones.
