El presente trabajo explora la dinámica y los cambios que vienenproduciéndose en las formas de participación política de los sectorespopulares, y algunas consecuencias de ello sobre el proceso de consolidacióndemocrática. Para esto, desarrollamos un modelo de análisis comparativoque busca, de un lado, comprensividad, el lograr integrar enla explicación variables estructurales, políticas y el reconocimiento dela capacidad de acción y racionalidad de los sectores populares a lolargo del tiempo y de otro lado, dar cuenta de manera general delconjunto de países latinoamericanos, por medio de la construccióny el examen de algunas situaciones que consideramos (típicas).
