AGROPARQUE: modelo para la reconexión de la red alimentaria del paisaje urbano y agrícola de Huancayo
(Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. Fondo Editorial, 2024) Rojas, Adriana
This research debates the importance of narrowing physical and conceptual distances between inhabitants and agricultural land, in order to secure and value this resource. The Mantaro Valley is one of the most productive in Peru; the city of Huancayo is its urban core, and the sector analyzed contains the last agricultural plots on its periphery, located at the mouth of the Shullcas —an urban river— in the Mantaro. The Agricultural Research Center of the National University of Central Peru (UNCP) is located in this node and a future expressway project is being proposed. The current food network between the agricultural – place where it is produced – and the urban – place where it is marketed and consumed – is not connected. Investigating the border between urban and agricultural can mean an opportunity to create a new imaginary based on agricultural multifunctionality. Could this intermediate agricultural land become a transition border in which both spaces coexist?
