After an accelerated and uncontrolled urban growth, the lower valley of the Lurin River has become the last green valley of Lima. It is a unique agricultural cultural landscape; whose high productive value and ecological complexity coexists with tangible and intangible traces of a sacred network of cosmic mountains and huacas. However, in the last twenty-five years, more than two-thirds of the initial agricultural land has been lost due to urban uses that fragment the urban fabric and alter the hydrography of its basin. This affects the main life strategy of its surrounding communities, the social representations of its landscape and its possible functional values in the face of the growing global water scarcity and its direct impact on food safety. Thus, the objective of this research is to define comprehensive strategies and actions that generate a territorial model of protection and enhancement of the valley, within the metropolitan imaginary of the city.
