Prensa y opinión palaciega. La Gaceta de Lima de Villagarcía a Superunda (1744-1751)

Abstract

A partir del estudio de tres ejemplares de la Gaceta de Lima se resalta la importancia de este papel periódico como difusor de una versión oficial acerca de la figura política del virrey y de su entorno. Este objetivo se procuró alcanzar por medio de la elaboración de un discurso de la unanimidad, es decir, de la generación de un tipo de pensamiento único e irrefutable para consumo de los lectores. El estudio de casos permite ver cómo la corte virreinal limeña hizo una interpretación premeditada e interesada de estas noticias para, simultáneamente, halagar a la aristocracia y denigrar a la plebe.---A study of three editions of the Gaceta de Lima will underscore the importance of this newspaper as a disseminator of the official version of the political figure of the viceroy and his entourage. This objective was achieved by projecting a discourse of unanimity, that is, by generating a uniform and irrefutable message for the reader’s consumption. The study of cases will allow us to see how Lima’sviceregal court produced a premeditated and self-interested interpretation of the news which simultaneously praised the aristocracy and denigrated the common people.
