An Analysis from the Philosophical Perspective of Walter Benjamin”. In this article, we undertake, from the perspective of Walter Benjamin’s philosophical work, the phenomenon of involuntary memory discovered by Marcel Proust in the writing process –exercise of subjectification– of In Search of Lost Time (1908-1922). In the analysis the following approaches are developed: the relation between oblivion and memory (from Sigmund Freud, Henri Bergson and Charles Baudelaire), the poetic discovery of involuntary memory (in relation to the qualities of profane illumination), the conditions for the revelation of mnemic images –images of the inner world– (the ancient and medieval predecessors and the surrealist contemporaries), the recovery of the lost time and of the narration in the novel, and the auratic character of the involuntary memory’s images.

This article analyzes Thomas Aquinas’s assimilation of the Aristotelian theory of chance. The analysis highlights Thomas Aquinas’s unequivocal acceptance of Aristotelian philosophy, as well as the issues regarding which he abandoned the Aristotelian position by offering a new interpretation related to the role of chance in the context of the created cosmos. All in all, the confluence of these two great systems of thought –Aristotelian thought and late Medieval Christianity– provided new ways to understand nature, by expanding the scope of physics from the absolutely determined to the anomalous and irregular.

Only Hypothesis’ and Domain Specificity”. The faculty of language was always considered as the paradigm of a cognitive capacity that illustrates the property of domain specificity. In the minimalist-biolinguistic approach, this property seems to blur. However, the reason usually cited (for example, universal grammar is now “less rich”), does not seem adequate from the point of view of the conceptual coherence of the notion of domain specificity. In this paper I will distinguish between a sense of specificity of domain that is interesting or useful for cognitive research and another vacuous one.I will show that if the analysis of the notion of domain specificity is conceptually coherent and the available empirical evidence is accepted, then these constitute the reasons why domain specificity cannot be attributed to the faculty of language under the assembly-only hypothesis.

This paper aims to justify the importance of a renewed way to analyze the doctrine of abstraction in Thomas Aquinas, considering that different studies so far a) show difficulties to correctly interpret some key texts of the Angelic, and b) have spawned debates and disagreements among scholars to the point of preventing the development of a common doctrine on the subject. Throughout the paper, two texts will be analyzed in order to show the contrast between what is said and what has been commonly interpreted from them.
