This article aims to shed light on the idea of truth in Jean-Paul Sartre’s ontological phenomenology from his posthumous book, Truth and Existence (1989). For this, we will divide our work into four parts: the first will approach the idea of truth as a revelation of Being to human reality; the second will analyze how a denial of truth is possible from the possibilities of ignorance and error; the third will focus on explaining how the truth unveiled by a human reality opens towards universalization; and the fourth will show that all truth, by the fact of being intersubjective, is part of the process of historicalization of human reality.

This article aims to rethink the ethical dimensions of the psychiatric diagnosis as a speech act. Thereupon, we will explore the internal tensions of the psychiatric language in light of Kant’s distinction between determining and reflective judgements. Then, we shall emphasize the performative dimension of the diagnosis from the perspectives of Austin and Wittgenstein, thus problematizing the idea that it is an objective description of the patient’s abnormality. Finally, in dialogue with the epistemic injustice approach, we will propose a commissive notion of diagnosis that can also serve as a means for social criticism.

The objective of this article is to explore the work of two contemporary authors: Mario Perniola and Rosi Braidotti. They both defend an immanent materialism in which they find that there can be no radical distinction between human beings and the matter that surrounds them. An appeal to transcendental reason is no longer possible for them if one wants to understand and describe contemporary society. Each author explains, from their viewpoint, how the notion of subjectivity has been transformed, what the importance of difference is and what the role of sensibility should be, exploring, thusly, the ways in which the human interacts and melds with the world of the inorganic in this posthuman context. This article presents the positions of both authors in order to explore the extent to which possible connections and agreements can be drawn, as well as their key differences.

This article aims to address the notion of nature and its problematic character, from the discussion and reflection that triggers the question of being for the philosopher Martin Heidegger. I highlight, throughout the text, the original link between the question of being and Greek thought about phýsis. For this, it will be essential to pay attention to Heraclitus in his approach to phýsis and its concealment; Aristotle’s reflections on the subject also represent an important contribution, based on his concern about the relationship between phýsis and movement. Finally, from the history of being we will try to underline the beginning of the decline of phýsis and the emergence of nature.

The purpose of this paper is to present an approach to Plotinus’ anthropology by addressing the levels (or layers) of the self from a problematization of the conception of evil –metaphysical and ethical– expressed mainly in the Enneads V 1, 1, 1-15 and I 8, 3, 35-40. For this, in the first section the role of matter in the procession will be briefly reviewed. In the second section, I will focus on the study of the problem between the metaphysical and ethical conceptions of evil, and its relation to the levels of the self. In the last section, I will address the question regarding the epistemic value of the existence of evil for the philosopher in the dialectical distinction of the true self of the human being.

This article delves into the problem of contradiction in Nietzschean philosophy, taking Müller-Lauter’s interpretation as the main reference. Its main objective is to shed light on the path followed by Nietzsche towards the postulation of the will to power as a perspectivist reading of reality, which replaces the traditional notion of metaphysical truth. The argument focuses on refuting the equalization of Nietzschean perspectivism with the arbitrariness of a crude relativism, by examining the relationship between the will to power and the will to truth.

The present paper aims at setting an hermeneutic analysis of the main concepts Chalmers’ interpretation on the mind-body problem is built upon. Our reflection aims at criticizing Chalmers’ position and given that the structure of his interpretation reflects a philosophical tradition; that is, it reproduces a type of approach, we believe that the ineffectiveness of his approach is reason enough to reconsider another type of approach towards the same problem: the one provided by the phenomenological tradition.
