Ítem Acceso Abierto Salud y enfermedad en la arquitectura sanitaria del movimiento moderno peruano sanatorio n.°1 «Bravo Chico» y hospital central del empleado(Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. Fondo Editorial, 2024) Borja, ClaudiaHospitals, in the eye of the storm during the health crisis, are seen, now more than ever, as technical rather than architectural infrastructure. As if, contradictorily, the weight of the work they carry on “their shoulders”—preserving human life and health— could remove the dimension of sensitivity inherent to architecture and reduced them to mere healing machines, without underlying intentions, without ideological commitment, without a view to progress or without the will to improve the habitat of its main users: the sick. Perhaps was this ever different? This research seeks to provide a new look at the healthcare architecture of the Peruvian Modern Movement, to understand hospitals as valuable architectural exponents. Likewise, to rethink the origins of modernity in Peru, reinserting the human dimension from the health infrastructure through the study of two cases: the Sanatorium No. 1 for Tuberculosis Patients “Bravo Chico” and the Central Hospital of the Insurance Employee Social.
